Kearney County Assessor Mapping Help/Tutorial
Tutorial Text Search
To search for your property, type your last name into the text box next to "Owner:" followed by a /.
This will search for all parcels that are owned by someone with your last name. If you want to be more
specific type you first name in after the /. Click the Submit button next to that text box and
your search results will appear. To view the information on a given parcel click on the
parcel id number. This gives you all of the information for that parcel, as well as the ability to
see photos and sketches of the property. If you want to view this property on the map, click on the
"Map" link near the top of the page, next to the "Images" heading.
Tutorial Map Search
To search using the map, click on the Submit button next to the "Map:" option. Within the map you can
also perform the same searches as the text search allows you to do. The inputs for the text search
are at the top of the map. Entering in you last name as above will select all of those parcels on the
map and give you the results of your text search on the right hand side of the window. You can also
select parcels by using the "Get Info" tool at the bottom of the screen. Select the "Get Info" tool from the bottom of the
window and then click on the map to get information on the parcel(s) you click. The results of your
search will appear on the right hand side of the screen.
Tools Help
All of the available map tools can be selected by using the tabs at the bottom of the view.
To select a tool, click on it, except for the "Full Extent" and "Zoom to Selected" tools which
run when they are clicked on. The tool currently selected is outlined in red.
-
Zoom In - The zoom in tool uses a zoom box to fit the map into the extent you specify. Click
on the map, holding down the mouse button, and drag the mouse to the right and downward.
You will see a red box being created and when you let go of the mouse button the map will be
zoomed to the extent of your zoom box. This zooms in to an extent roughly the area specified
by the zoom box.
-
Zoom Out - To use the zoom out tool, select it and click where you want the map to be
centered. This zooms the map out to a larger extent with the point you clicked as the
center.
-
Pan - The pan tool can be used in two different ways. You can click on the map to center
the map at the point you clicked or you can move the map by clicking and dragging the mouse
then letting up on the mouse button.
-
Get Info - This tool allows you to get information based on the queryable layer. Click
on a parcel to get its information.
-
Full Extent - Brings the map back to the initial countywide view.
-
Zoom To Selected - Sets the map extent to the proper size to show all of the selected
parcels (features) within the map view. This tool only works if you have features selected.
-
Home - Takes you back out to the very first text search page.
Layer Control
If you want to view an aerial picture of the buildings on your property you must switch the
layer control to have the Obliques be identifiable. To see what is identifiable you click on
the tab called Layer Control in the bottom right corner of the screen. The layer that has the
round button with the dot in the middle is the currently identifiable layer. So if parcels is
identifiable and you select a parcel on the map you will get information about that parcel.
If the oblique layer is identifiable and you click on an oblique point on the map you can view
that image by clicking on the filename under Search Results on the right part of the screen. To
change which layer is identifiable, click the radio button next to the approriate name and then
click the Update Map button. The check boxes next to the layer names indicates whether or not
that layer can be visible. So if you want to make it so the imagery doesn't show up when you are
zoomed in close, simply uncheck the box next to Imagery, click the Update Map button and the
imagery won't show up again until you turn it back on and update the map.
Layers

Text Search Help
There are four different text search types that help you select the feature(s) you are
looking for. All of the features matching your criteria are displayed on the map as well as in
the search results area on the right of the screen. The text search tools are all at the top
of the screen. To select the one you want to use click on its name. The currently select
text search option is highlighted in orange.
-
Address - Type in an address number and street to search for a parcel or feature by address.
When entering in the address do not include the street type such as St. or Ave. at the end of the
street name.
-
Owner Name - Type in an owner name, last name/first name or just a last name to search for
all parcels owned by that name. If you can't remember the exact spelling of the name, just type
in as much of the last name as you know and the results will give you all of the last names that
start with the partial name you specified.
-
Parcel Id - Type in the specific parcel number you want to search, or if you aren't sure of
the parcel id type in as much as you know and the search will bring up all of the parcels that
start with what you specified.
-
Section-Township-Range - Type in the Section, Township, and Range to get all features within
that area of the county. This option is only available in the map view.
